Frequently Asked Questions
- Who can enter?
- The Awards are open to all Anglesey tourism operators and as long as you meet the criteria for the category or categories you are entering then your entry is very much welcomed.
- What are the benefits of entering the Awards?
- This is a great opportunity for you and your business to be recognised and rewarded on regional and potentially national basis. A prestigious accolade, winners should enjoy extensive media coverage in the local, regional and trade press and possibly radio. In addition, winners are invited to use the Anglesey Tourism Awards winner logo on all marketing material. The Anglesey Tourism Awards will grow in stature year on year and presents a wonderful chance to showcase your business and network with fellow professionals.
- Is there a word limit to my answers?
- No there is no limit so please try to answer all the questions set out with as much detailed information - the more you provide, the more the judges will have a better picture of your business.
- Can I answer in Welsh?
- As we use a panel of judges from North Wales and the North West, please complete all the forms in English only.
- As well as completing the tourism award application form should I also send in supplementary information?
- Yes, we welcome the addition of support material. This may include: brochures; testimonials; customer satisfaction surveys; questionnaires; web trends; marketing campaign details; local or regional media coverage and promotional literature.
- Can I enter more than one award?
- Yes, you may enter as many awards as you wish, in fact we actively encourage it.
- How long should I spend completing the entry form and any supporting details?
- We estimate that an individual entry form should take no longer than a couple of hours to complete - if the information is easily to hand, it could take less time.
- Is it possible to submit the application form electronically?
- A completed entry form with your submission and support material MUST be delivered to either Pip Cockeram, 13 New Street, Beaumaris (01248 811195) or Coed Cottages, Llanfechell, Nr Cemaes Bay (01407 710502). Please do ring beforehand to check someone will be present to accept your submission.
Please email accompanying images for your submission (size between 1-3MB) to Pip Cockeram at pip@pipcockeram.co.uk by the closing date or put on disc and included with your delivered submission.
- Will I be expected to attend the Anglesey Tourism Awards ceremony if I apply?
- It is expected that at least one representative from your organisation will attend the event. Winners will be asked to participate in publicity, which may include photography, quotes for the press and radio interviews.
- When will the winners be announced?
- Shortlisted nominees will be announced before the ceremony but there will be no advance notification of the winners as these will be announced at the awards ceremony.
- What happens if I am shortlisted?
- All shortlisted entrants will be notified in writing after the judging and to go through to the final stage will need to be visited by two judges. These visits will be anonymous and therefore if necessary you will be asked to provide a voucher which is redeemable against either admission or a two course meal failure to do so will result in disqualification from the Awards.
- Is the information that I send kept private and confidential?
- Yes, only the organisers and the judging panel will have sight of the entry forms and supporting information. It is important to note that the judges' comments on the successful entry may be referred to at the Awards ceremony. These may make reference to the quality of the application and some of the content contained therein.
- What will the winners receive?
- All award winners will receive a prestigious, engraved plaque and certificate. In addition, winners will be included in all post event publicity and receive a logo for use on stationery, brochures and website as appropriate.
We strongly advise that all businesses shortlisted for an Anglesey Tourism Award enter the National Tourism Awards organised by Visit Wales.
- Does it cost anything to enter?
- No, there is no charge to enter.
